Flu + RSV + COVID-19
The respiratory illness combination test (or multiplex PCR), can simultaneously detect infections caused by SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A & B and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). This test is designed to simultaneously detect the 3 respiratory viruses with a single swab.
This test type is currently only available in Gauteng and the Western Cape.
Multiplex PCR Test
Common respiratory viruses have similar symptoms but have different clinical courses, treatments, and outcomes. This makes it important to distinguish between the different respiratory conditions, especially for patients with severe symptoms or existing conditions.
The Multiplex PCR test is performed on a single swab in one combination test, significantly reducing the laboratory processing time and costs.
This test is available as a Mobile or Walk-In test. No appointment is required for Walk-In testing.
